Quarterdeck Resort

Your Year-Round Minnesota Resort Destination

On June 30th and July 13th, 2018, the Classic Bass Champions Tour will arrive at Gull Lake where their second and third events of the 2018 season will be graciously hosted by Quarterdeck Resort. This will be the second season that Quarterdeck Resort will host the Champions Tour with the two events this summer.

Over fifty-five anglers will take part in the first ever Champions Tour Open tournament on June 30th, with thirty Champions Tour Anglers returning to Gull Lake for the Tour event on July 13th.  The night before each event, the anglers and boat officials will have a meeting at Quarterdeck and then blast off from the resort the following morning to test their skills on the famous Gull Lake.

Quarterdeck Resort is a two-hour drive north of the Twin Cities and located amidst the vast lake-packed region of Nisswa, Minnesota, on popular Gull Lake.  The resort was founded in 1957.  The Klohn family has been involved in the resort since 2012 and completed 100% acquisition of the 27-acre parcel in 2015. The Klohn family has been aggressively redeveloping the resort and coined the phrase “Our goal is to create the finest boutique resort in the Brainerd Lakes area.”  The family recently acquired an adjacent 7.5 acres for future expansion with the resort now comprised of 34.5 acres.

In the fall of 2015 all of the old 1950’s cabins were demolished, the main lodge was renovated, and a 180-seat waterfront restaurant/bar was added – Jakes Beach Grill.  Beginning in the spring of 2016 the former Boathouse Eatery was renovated to become the Boathouse Event Center which can seat up to 250 guests. According to PJ Overvold, Director of Hospitality, there are already 16 weddings booked for the summer and fall of 2018.

Last summer four 3,000 sq. ft lakefront cottages were constructed (each sleeping ten people), the boat ramp repaved, new underground water/sewer and electric were completed, new above ground marine fuel facility was added, and 96 new boat docks were purchased. In June of 2017 completed and opened the new lakefront lodge addition which houses a new check in lobby, gift shop and six lakefront suites of which three are one bedroom units with living room and kitchens.

In March 2018 construction commenced on two lakefront beach houses which will be complete in July. The main level of the beach house is a one bedroom suite with living room, kitchen, fireplace and lakefront patio which can connect via a lockout to the adjoining double queen suite which features an additional bath, kitchenette, fireplace and lakefront patio.  Each have separate entries.  There is another lakefront double queen suite on the second floor which also has a lakefront balcony.

In addition to Jake’s Beach Grill, the lakefront Sand Bar will be new on the scene featuring “on the go” cocktails, craft beer, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, hotdogs, ice cream, slushies, coffee, pop, and bag ice.

Construction drawings are underway for the new Birchwood building which is adjacent to the Boathouse Event Center.  This 16,174 sq. ft. two story building will house the resort’s amenities to include an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness facility, yoga studio, game room, and med spa.  There will also be a large party room with kitchen adjacent to the outdoor pool patio.  The Birchwood building will also include nine double queen suites with kitchenette, bath, fireplace, and lakeview balconies.

Quarterdeck Resort is quickly becoming one of the premier resorts in all of Minnesota!  The new cottages, new lodge addition, renovation of the Boathouse Event Center, Jake’s Beach Grill and the new Sand Bar are game changers for the resort. All eyes have been watching the rapid pace of the redevelopment.

Quarterdeck in the summertime is a place where you can revel in an array of water activities, reserve some quality tee time, and discover the true meaning of lakeside living.
