An Evening of Fishing Talk and Fun, all Supporting Mille Lacs Smallmouth
The Mille Lacs Smallmouth Alliance Second Annual Bronzeback Blowout will be held on Saturday, April 29th at Izatys Resort on the shores of Mille Lacs. Attendees will be treated to a fun evening of food, drink, socialization, great auction and door prizes with Steve Pennaz; host of Lake Commando’s serving as the emcee, with all proceeds going towards the Mille Lacs Smallmouth Alliance (MLSA).
This event is the biggest fundraiser that the Smallmouth Alliance holds, so the support anglers provide here goes a long way in helping to protect the Mille Lacs smallmouth bass fishery! The protection of this fishery is absolutely paramount as anglers from across the United States will be transcending here know following last year’s Bassmaster Angler of the Year event and it being in Bassmaster’s Top Ten lakes in the nation for bass.
Mille Lacs Smallmouth Alliance board members have been working with the Mille Lacs Fisheries Advisory Committee and were able to decrease the bag limit to three smallmouths for 2017; this is a 50% reduction from 2015. Still one of these three fish kept can be over the 21” mark, which is still of great frustration to the Alliance as these trophy fish are critical to the continued health of the fishery and the attraction of anglers from across the United States, both of which aid in the immediate and future financial wellbeing of the Mille Lacs surrounding businesses and communities.
Instilling a Fall Catch & Release season was also denied this year, which will put a large portion of the smallmouth bass population at risk of being harvested as the fall fishing on the lake has been and will continue to be tremendous.
Educating anglers about the smallmouth fishery on Mille Lacs is of the utmost importance for the Alliance, as is helping the local businesses sustain economic growth. This is what the fundraising campaigns of the MLSA go towards, educating anglers so that they can enjoy this great resource we have, while still having them patronize the Mille Lacs area businesses.
Izatys doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the event and tickets cost $30 per person and include a fabulous buffet dinner, with a cash bar being available. Up for grabs will be a wide variety of silent auction and raffle items both for the angler and hunter, including lots of fishing gear, a gun auction and a back stage pass to the Bassmaster Angler of the Year event being held on Mille Lacs in September.
If you are interested in attending and needs tickets, or would like to donate items for the silent auction or door prizes, please contact the MLSA at firstname.lastname@example.org .SHARE THIS CONTENT ON:
