The 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place Finishers in the Mille Lacs Champions Tour Event Discuss Their Day on the Water
Matt Peters put together 71 pounds and 2 ounces of Lake Mille Lacs smallies for 2nd place and immediately qualified for the year end championship. Similar to our 1st place finisher, Peters was mainly sight fishing bedded fish. In between sightings, a hair jig was deployed to pick up cruisers. Like many anglers, Peters moved to Plan C in terms of location thanks a stiff southwest wind that blew out several key areas.
The Drop Shot rig and Tube Jig served Peters well with the bulk of his bed fish coming on these two presentations
Rich Lindgren landed in 3rd place with 62 pounds 13 ounces. Covering water was the name of the game for Rich. The Menace Grub was key for Lindgren as he was able to fish this rig to bedded fish but also swim it in between bedding areas. Like many of our top finishers, Lindgren was able to adapt to the brutal wind conditions and find fish in areas that he hadn’t even pre-fished.
Mark Courts finished 4th and grabbed the Kruger Farms Don Nelson Big Bass award. Again, Mark fished bedded fish but the hair jig definitely put some key bass in his boat, including the 5 pound 3 ounce award winner.
