Lake Pokegama in Grand Rapids, MN is the location for the 2017 Champions Tour Championship
A lot will be on the line come Friday, September 1st on Lake Pokegama in Grand Rapids, MN. Twenty four Champions Tour anglers will be competing to win a Skeeter ZX 190 bass boat and bragging rights over some of the best bass fishermen in the Midwest.
Lake Pokegama sets up to be an extremely action-packed body of water for the Champions Tour format. The lake is very diverse with healthy populations of both smallmouth and largemouth bass. The number of techniques that potentially could be used to catch these fish is nearly endless.
Pokegama offers vast deep structure via weedlines, points and humps where schools of fish could be found, but the lake also provides many options for the shallow water fishermen such as docks, slop and much more.
A late summer cold snap has entered the region and the day time highs are in the low to mid 70’s, with overnight lows in the low 50’s, will this push the bass into a feeding binge as the harsh winter of Minnesota is only two months away!
Several of the Champions Tour anglers who have qualified for the event are very new to the lake. Some have never been to Pokegama while others have only been on the lake a time or two. This will make for an action packed event where any one of the twenty four anglers could be bringing home a brand new Skeeter ZX190 boat, trailer and Yamaha Outboard package.
