Fifteen Fishing Industry Representatives, Including Al & Troy Lindner Share All and Want to Help You Get Your Dream Job
If you’ve ever dreamed about working in the fishing industry, whether that means on the retail side of things, or working for a fishing tackle company, you may already know that you don’t share this dream alone.
So why not get a leg up on your competition and help make your dream a reality by attending the second annual Fishing Careers Workshop, on Saturday, October 27th in Brainerd at Madden’s on Gull Lake, and will run from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The event is hosted by the legendary Al Lindner, son Troy and famed outdoor writer Joel Nelson. These three, along with twelve other speakers will share their personal journey on how they got to where they are at in the fishing industry and give you step-by-step details on how you can get into the industry and get that dream job.

Getting to the professional level of bass fishing
Tourism and how a small town captured the biggest stage(s) in bass fishing on a national level
Being a brand manager for a large fishing company
How a single “small” tackle shop thrives with a mailed catalog (and online sales)
How one woman is growing the industry by focusing on female anglers with tournaments and more!
FLW Tour Pro Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson will be one of the speakers and has a unique story, “I went to University on the “keep mom happy” program and that was good to go through the process, but I’ve been doing my fishing thing since I was a teenager and have never had a real job/boss before.”
Gussy besides a touring pro is guide and busy promoter and urges everyone to attend that loves to fish and wants to make it a career. “These real life stories about how all of these people make their living in the fishing business will give you good direction, said Gussy. “These people did not get lucky, they worked hard and through trial and error, made it work.”

“Follow last year’s inaugural event, we had two young anglers start a bait company and are now making money and another two attendees moved out West and are now full-time working guides,” said Troy Lindner.
